Newly-tattoed?
A tattoo is always an expression of self, a lasting symbol. It is not entirely painless, of course, but with a little discipline and by using My Tattoo products you can soon feel proud of your new body art.
After it has been tattooed our skin reacts as it would to a graze and the newly-tattooed areas can itch or burn. They can take up to 10 or 14 days to heal. It is important for the quality of your tattoo that the skin is allowed to heal without any complications.

The “tattoo sphere”
Tattooing always depends on achieving the right depth. The top layer of the skin is constantly being shed and regenerated and so the pleasure of your new work of art would be short-lived. If the piercing is too deep, much of the colour would be washed out by heavy bleeding.
So the art of the genuine tattoo artist lies not only in transferring and interpreting the motif but also in the correct handling of the tattoo pistol.

Care tips
To prevent the build-up of thick scabs, the tattooed area should be washed frequently and moisturised using My Tattoo aftercare balm.
Do not use any abrasive or strongly-perfumed products or any which contain alcohol.
Always wash the tattooed area and apply moisturiser with clean hands. First cleanse your hands with anti-bacterial hand-wash.
Stay out of the sauna or swimming-pool.
Avoid irritating the skin by rubbing or scratching it – even when it itches!
Do not sun-bathe as your tattoo should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
Wear the lightest possible, wide, lint-free textiles over your tattoo.
Avoid sleeping on the newly-tattooed area.
All sports activities which are likely to hinder healing should most definitely be avoided, particularly if the skin on the tattooed area might be stretched.
Apply My Tattoo aftercare balm to the skin in a thin layer several times a day as this prevents it drying out and provides intensive care to your damaged skin.
My Tattoo skin aftercare balm should be replaced by My Tattoo aftercare lotion after about two weeks. My Tattoo aftercare lotion continues to nourish your skin with moisture while providing the necessary UV protection and enhancing the colours.
If healing takes longer than expected or if you experience any inflammation or irritation you should seek medical help.

Re-discovered: Birch bark extract
Birch bark extract is rich in betulin. And betulin has long been at the centre of dermatological research because of its many positive properties. This substance inhibits moisture loss and improves skin care with calcium. Betulin therefore helps to prevent inflammation and can speed up the healing and regeneration processes. Betulin also reduces itching.
